I don’t know why, I find dunes kind of erotic.
sand is the skin of time, la arena es la piel del tiempo.

Plays: 31[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
Zoë Keating - Fern
the desert sky is covered in a thin haze, an opposing ocean in which our minds drift, but yet in which we wish to drown further beneath, in the third horizon cradled between the dimensions, the zenith of our descent, a folding doorway into stellar spaces beyond, death and life intermixed and faded to gray, then under the banner of the divine conundrum coalescing into celestial beasts of all colors, where the planets, moons and stars are orbs of swirling light, creation and destruction unified in an astral cyclic peace.

George Steinmetz - “Colored deep red by algae adapted to survive in its hypersaline waters, this lake in the Ubari Sand Sea is fed by springs from an underground aquifer created by ancient rains. Fresh water that wells up from underground is lost to evaporation, leaving ever greater concentrations of salt.”
From Unseen Sahara - a National Geographic feature about Libya’s remote Fezzan region.
[Of all the photos from this series, this particular photo struck me the most when I noticed that the red lake looks like an anatomical heart in the middle of the desert. Nature is awesome.]
